🌈 Feature Article — The 2005 AA International Convention, Toronto

(Page 1)

The issue opens with a warm, humorous, and inviting explanation of what GLBT AA members can expect at the 2005 International Convention.

Key Highlights:

  • In Minneapolis (2000), the IAC Hospitality Suite hosted over 8,000 GLBT AA members, and the IAC dance drew over 2,000 people.

  • Gay and lesbian–positive meetings at the convention each had several thousand attendees.

  • In other words: Yes — GLBT members show up in huge numbers at International Conventions.

A friend once asked: “Will there be any gays there?” The answer: Absolutely, yes — thousands.

Toronto 2005 Preparations:

  • Planning began in summer 2002.

  • Gordon MacN. (Eastern Canada Regional Rep) is the lead coordinator in Toronto.

  • Hospitality suite and dance venues have already been secured and described as “truly FABULOUS” by Central Florida’s IAC Rep.

  • The IAC dance and suite will again serve as central gathering places for GLBT AA members worldwide.

Spiritual Importance:

The writer emphasizes that the AA International Convention is not only social or celebratory — it is a deeply spiritual and unifying experience, strengthening one’s relationship with a Higher Power and the worldwide Fellowship.

More details will appear in future issues and at iac-aa.org.
