The April 1990 edition of IACTIVITY is a major historical newsletter documenting LGBTQ+ AA’s role in the 1990 International AA Convention in Seattle. This concise but important issue outlines IAC’s planned hospitality suite, the Seattle LGBTQ+ dance, a massive volunteer effort, Roundup listings for Spring–Summer 1990, and the full roster of IAC trusted servants from that era.


🌟 Seattle 1990 International AA Convention – LGBTQ+ Events


IAC announces two major LGBTQ-focused attractions at the Seattle Convention:


🏢 IAC Hospitality Suite


Located in the Cirrus Room – 35th Floor, Sheraton Hotel, Seattle

Hours:

  • Thursday: Noon–2 AM

  • Friday: 7 AM–2 AM

  • Saturday: 7 AM–2 AM

  • Sunday: CLOSED (Convention closing day)


The suite would feature:

  • Fellowship and quiet space

  • Coffee & refreshments

  • Information tables

  • Archives

  • Meeting board & temp sponsor connections

  • LGBTQ+ gathering point for convention attendees worldwide


💃 IAC Gay & Lesbian AA Dance


Friday, July 5, 1990Union Station – Seattle10:00 PM–2:00 AM Advance tickets: $7Door price: $10


This dance was one of the earliest official LGBTQ+ AA events at an AA International Convention.


🙋 Volunteers Needed – 180 Shifts to Fill


IAC requested urgent volunteer support:

  • 180 volunteer slots

  • 2-hour shifts

  • Volunteer for either the Hospitality Suite or the Dance


Members were encouraged to reply by June 1, 1990.


💰 Donations Needed for Convention Costs


The IAC asked members and groups to help cover:

  • Hospitality suite setup

  • Venue expenses

  • Coffee & supplies

  • Dance production costs

  • Printing

  • Insurance

  • Equipment rental


All donors could request full financial transparency — one of the earliest examples of IAC’s commitment to open financial reporting.


🌈 Spring–Summer 1990 LGBTQ+ Roundups


This issue contains one of the earliest documented LGBTQ+ Roundup calendars. Events included:
