The Winter 2018 newsletter highlights new beginnings, transparency in service, and the ongoing work of carrying the AA message to LGBTQ+ alcoholics across the U.S. and beyond. With the new year underway, GaL-AA focuses on leadership updates, financial responsibility, Seventh Tradition guidance, and opportunities for members to get involved.

The issue opens with the 2018 Election Results, announcing that all open positions—Deputy Chair, Secretary, and Advisor II—were filled by returning incumbents Carol N., Mark P., and Eric W. With only one service résumé received per position, a formal vote was not required. The Chair encourages more members to consider participating in GaL-AA service and contribute their talents to the committee.

A major feature of this edition is a detailed article on Contributing to GaL-AA and how Seventh Tradition funds support vital 12-Step work. The piece explains how contributions are used to maintain the website, host hospitality suites at AA’s International Conventions, distribute literature, support LGBTQ+ roundup attendees, maintain meeting databases, and cover essential service-provider costs. It affirms GaL-AA’s commitment to self-support, unity, and responsible stewardship of contributions.

This issue also highlights Sober & Out, GaL-AA’s program that distributes AA Grapevine’s LGBTQ story collection to Hospitals & Institutions (H&I) upon request, helping bring hope to those unable to attend outside meetings.

The Contributors & Fundraisers section invites members to submit articles, local news, or fundraising ideas for future newsletters, strengthening communication across the LGBTQ+ AA community.

A full list of August–November 2017 contributions is included, acknowledging support from groups and individuals throughout the fellowship.

The newsletter concludes with the Executive Committee roster, the first three AA Steps and Traditions, and a comprehensive list of upcoming LGBTQ+ AA roundups across the U.S. and Canada.
