The Summer 2019 newsletter highlights growing momentum and excitement for the upcoming 2020 International Convention in Detroit. This issue is centered on service, fundraising, remembrance, and fellowship as GaL-AA prepares for a landmark year.

The newsletter opens with a Detroit 2020 Committee Update, sharing that local volunteers are actively organizing fundraisers and expanding national outreach. Members are encouraged to stay informed via the Detroit 2020 website and support ongoing efforts as plans accelerate.

A featured announcement invites members to “Get Your Motown On!”, a special fundraising event hosted at the historic Motown Mansion on September 22, 2019. Attendees can enjoy live music, brunch, and a guided tour of Berry Gordy’s former home—all supporting GaL-AA’s hospitality suite and dance at the 2020 International Convention.

This issue also honors the memory of Michael N., a longtime servant of GaL-AA (and previously the IAC). Michael is remembered for his humor, kindness, and influential role in helping transform the organization into what it is today.

The newsletter includes the full list of January–July 2019 contributions from groups and individuals across the U.S. and Canada, reflecting the strong support behind GaL-AA’s ongoing work.

The issue closes with a comprehensive calendar of upcoming LGBTQ+ AA roundups, offering members opportunities for connection, service, and fellowship throughout North America.
