The Summer 2017 newsletter captures a season of fellowship, service, and renewed community engagement. This issue focuses on supporting newcomers, strengthening communication across LGBTQ+ AA groups, and preparing for future GaL-AA projects and International Convention participation.

The issue opens with “Summer in Sobriety,” a warm reflection on the challenges and opportunities this season brings. While summer is filled with celebrations, vacations, and Pride events, it can also be difficult for newcomers. Members are encouraged to reach out, practice service, and show how joyful and fulfilling sober living can be—especially during high-risk seasons.

A call for Newsletter Contributors invites LGBTQ+ AA members across the U.S. and abroad to submit personal stories, area news, and suggestions to help build a stronger, more connected GaL-AA community. Contributions are welcomed for future issues and website updates.

This edition highlights the Queen City Roundup, the inaugural LGBTQ & Friends AA/Al-Anon conference in Buffalo, NY. The event offers workshops, speakers, and fellowship, marking an important addition to the growing list of LGBTQ+ AA roundups across North America.

A section on Sober & Out reaffirms GaL-AA’s commitment to supporting H&I facilities by providing the AA Grapevine’s LGBTQ story collection free of charge upon request—continuing a vital connection between incarcerated or hospitalized alcoholics and LGBTQ+ recovery experience.

The Fundraisers section invites members to help support GaL-AA by hosting creative local events—anything from speaker dinners to drag bingo—helping raise funds for GaL-AA’s presence at the upcoming International AA Convention.

This issue includes February–June 2017 contributions, thanking groups and individuals for their ongoing support of the Seventh Tradition.

Rounding out the newsletter are Steps 7–9, Traditions 7–9, and a full calendar of upcoming LGBTQ+ AA roundups across the U.S. and Canada.
