The Spring 2015 newsletter features financial transparency, personal service reflections, upcoming International Convention details, and ways LGBTQ+ AA members can stay connected and involved as GaL-AA continues expanding its support for the fellowship.

The issue opens with “From the Treasurer” by Mark J., sharing his gratitude for being trusted with GaL-AA’s finances and his enthusiasm for serving the LGBTQ+ AA community at the world level. He reports strong 2014 financial performance, including $5,890.34 in income and a contribution of $2,355.25 to AA’s General Service Office. The update also lists states and Canadian provinces that contributed to GaL-AA in 2014, reflecting widespread support across North America.

The newsletter includes a detailed donations report for January–March 2015, showcasing home groups and individual members who helped fund GaL-AA’s mission of unity, representation, and service to LGBTQ+ alcoholics.

A major feature of this issue is the International Convention in Atlanta (July 2015). LGBTQ+ AA members in Atlanta are preparing to host GaL-AA’s hospitality suite and dance. Volunteers are invited to help with outreach, logistics, entertainment, and fundraising—including the unique Ms. & Mr. Sobriety World Drag Competition designed to bring fun and fellowship to the dance.

This edition also highlights the expansion of GaL-AA volunteer opportunities, inviting members to represent their groups, roundups, areas, or regions—or to contribute through projects such as Corrections, Treatment, Special Needs, PI, CPC, and Archives. GaL-AA emphasizes its mission of sharing information and connecting LGBTQ+ AA members worldwide.

A featured section includes Executive Committee Stories, where several leaders share their journeys in sobriety, service, and LGBTQ+ AA involvement:

  • Carol N. – Secretary — Reflects on her years helping choose the new GaL-AA name, managing donations, and serving the LGBTQ+ AA community nationwide.

  • Denise R. – Chair — Shares her journey from early sobriety in 1989 to years of service, gratitude, and overseeing preparations for the 2015 International Convention.

  • Gary C. – Advisor II — Discusses decades of service, from area rep to advisor, and the joy of supporting LGBTQ+ roundups and community building.

  • Pierre B. – Advisor III — Describes years of involvement with GaL-AA and his role in coordinating the Atlanta 2015 Convention committees.

  • Rob F. – Technical Liaison — Shares updates on website redesign, meeting database development, and future possibilities like mobile apps and improved roundup listings.

The newsletter concludes with Steps 2 and Tradition 2, upcoming 2015–2016 LGBTQ+ AA roundups, and contact information for GaL-AA services and outreach.
