The Fall 2019 newsletter centers around preparations for the 2020 International Convention in Detroit, offering updates, service opportunities, and ways members can get involved in supporting GaL-AA’s hospitality events for the upcoming convention.
The issue opens with a detailed Detroit 2020 Committee Update, highlighting the momentum and enthusiasm from recent fundraisers, including the Motown Mansion event and the Halloween barn dance Spooktacular. Members are encouraged to follow upcoming events through the official Detroit 2020 website calendar.
A letter from the Detroit 2020 Planning Committee invites members to participate in supporting GaL-AA’s presence at the International Convention. Suggestions include group contributions, hosting local fundraisers, or distributing labeled donation cans. Clear instructions are provided for contributing electronically or by mail. Any unused convention funds will return to GaL-AA’s general fund to support ongoing LGBTQ+ AA service work.
This issue also includes information about the 2020–2022 GaL-AA Elections, outlining open positions (Deputy Chair, Secretary, Advisor II), the election timeline, and instructions for submitting service résumés. Members are encouraged to participate and consider appointed positions like Newsletter support, Roundup Liaisons, or joining the website team.
The newsletter lists contributions received from August through October 2019, acknowledges the Executive Committee, and provides a roundup calendar for upcoming LGBTQ+ AA events across the U.S. and Canada.
