The Fall 2016 newsletter highlights major updates from GaL-AA’s annual face-to-face meeting in New Jersey/New York, along with practical holiday sobriety tools and important service announcements for the LGBTQ+ AA community.

The issue opens with Highlights from the October 2016 Face-to-Face Meeting, including:

  • A visit to GSO and AA Grapevine Headquarters in New York City to build stronger communication channels supporting LGBTQ+ AA members.

  • An update to GaL-AA’s Statement of Inclusion, affirming that GaL-AA “embraces all LGBT+ members of the AA fellowship.”

  • A plan for bi-monthly website updates, with a focus on clearer, more consistent communication throughout the year.

  • Continued development of a refreshed, mobile-friendly website redesign.

  • Discussion of Sober & Out outreach, including potential future correspondence initiatives.

  • Ongoing work on fiscal responsibility and expanded contribution options (Venmo, Square Cash).

  • Building a stronger stream of communication for open meeting invitations and guests.

This edition features a large and helpful section of Sober Holiday Tips, with practical suggestions for navigating travel, family time, cravings, expectations, and seasonal social events. Tips include making plans, managing stress, leaning into meetings, staying connected to sober friends, and remembering to keep the focus on recovery.

The Seventh Tradition Contributions section thanks individual members, home groups, and roundup committees for their continued financial support from August through October 2016.

Additional highlights include:

  • The Executive Committee roster for 2016

  • Steps 11–12 and Traditions 11–12
