The Fall 2015 newsletter captures the excitement, gratitude, and tremendous service effort surrounding the 2015 AA International Convention in Atlanta, where GaL-AA hosted the LGBTQ+ hospitality suite and a wildly successful dance that drew more than 2,000 people.

This issue opens with a vibrant recap of the International Convention Weekend, highlighting:

  • A packed Friday night dance featuring Atlanta’s sober DJ

  • The Miss Sobriety World drag competition, with contestants from Atlanta and Dallas raising funds for GaL-AA outreach

  • A fully staffed hospitality suite operating all weekend

  • More than 150 volunteers supporting the events

  • A fully self-supporting financial model that also allowed GaL-AA to contribute back to the international organization

Members from across the country and abroad stopped by the GaL-AA suite to connect, share news from their cities, and celebrate LGBTQ+ sobriety together.

A member story titled “Connections in AA Are Infinite” shares one attendee’s experience meeting new friends in the hospitality suite, joining a men’s retreat months later, and finding courage and joy from the welcoming chants of the green committee—proof of how quickly AA connections can change a life.

This edition also outlines details for the 2015 GaL-AA Elections, including open positions (Deputy Chair, Secretary, Advisor II), qualifications, responsibilities, and the full election timeline from résumé submission to the December announcement of new officers.

The newsletter includes a large Financial & Contribution Report for August–October 2015, listing support from home groups nationwide and reaffirming GaL-AA’s commitment to self-support through member contributions.

A helpful section on Sponsorship explains how newcomers can find sponsors, why sponsorship is vital to recovery, and how experienced members can best carry the message.

Additional features include:

  • A detailed breakdown of 2015 International Convention statistics

  • Step 11 and Tradition 11 focus

  • Full Executive Committee roster

  • A list of upcoming LGBTQ+ AA roundups for 2015–2016
