GaL-AA Newsletter – 4th Quarter, Winter 2024

The Summer 2024 newsletter highlights an active and exciting season for GaL-AA, filled with service opportunities, member stories, and updates from our global recovery community.


This issue opens with information about the 2024 GaL-AA elections, outlining available service positions, qualifications, and the full timeline leading up to the October vote. Members are encouraged to consider standing for Chairperson, Treasurer, Advisor I, or Advisor III—reminding us that service is at the heart of AA and vital to the LGBTQ+ Fellowship.


In her message, Chairperson Hilde M. shares updates from a productive face-to-face board meeting in Atlanta, including a full bylaws revision, the creation of a new policy manual, and the launch of regular town hall meetings. She also invites members to get involved and emphasizes the importance of diverse representation on the committee.


The edition features several heartfelt articles, beginning with a member story from Dale W. of Vancouver, who reflects on early service work in Toronto and how the AA Traditions shaped his recovery. Gaven M. offers a deeply personal and spiritual reflection on Steps 6 & 7, exploring humility, acceptance, and the ongoing journey of character growth.


Jeff Y. contributes a thoughtful exploration of Tradition 7, reminding us how self-support fosters responsibility, group unity, and spiritual integrity.


This newsletter also includes an inspiring Report from the World, written by Jeff T., chronicling a five-month world cruise that included AA meetings across multiple continents—from Mexico and Tahiti to Australia, Singapore, Morocco, and the UK. His reflections highlight the universal language of AA and the power of connection across cultures.


The issue concludes with quarterly contributions, committee listings, and a roundup of upcoming LGBTQ+ AA conferences across the U.S. and Canada..
