The Fall 2023 newsletter brings together gratitude, service, and stories of recovery as GaL-AA moves into the final months of the year. Chairperson Hilde M. opens the issue with a warm reflection on gratitude—both the big gifts of sobriety and the everyday comforts that come from walking into an AA room and feeling at home. With elections underway, members are encouraged to submit service résumés and consider joining the committee.

This issue includes a detailed GaL-AA Elections Update, outlining open positions for Deputy Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Advisor II. The article explains qualifications, responsibilities, and the application deadline, inviting members to participate in shaping GaL-AA’s future—especially with the 2025 International Convention on the horizon.

The Roundup Updates feature two major events:• Provincetown Roundup — A powerful return to full capacity with nearly 1,000 attendees, packed workshops, heartfelt shares, and a successful new talent show honoring beloved performers.• Ohio Roundup — A joyful gathering in Canton with strong AA and Al-Anon participation, banquet-style hospitality, standing-room-only meetings, and a moving sobriety countdown spanning 44 years to 7 days.

This newsletter also includes rich spiritual content in the Maintenance Steps article (Steps 10, 11 & 12), written by Mark P. He shares deeply about ongoing spiritual fitness, honesty, humility, and the daily work of Steps 10–12—not as perfection but as continuous practice. His reflections highlight progress, self-awareness, and multiple “spiritual awakenings” over the years.

Member stories continue with Gratitude for Remembering the Last Drink, where Jeff T. shares the powerful story of his final drunk in 1979 and the pivotal moment that began his journey toward recovery. Another powerful reflection, Gratitude & Report from the Field, features James R., who writes about service through sharing and his recent experience speaking at a virtual meeting in Krakow, Poland—with live translation.

The issue closes with contributions from June–October 2023 and a list of upcoming roundups across the United States and Canada.
